Week 1

Fitness Test

Our theme for this term is fitness and so tonight we will be taking some basic fitness tests and comparing them to how we are at the end of the term after doing a 20min fitness routine each week (and yes that does include all the leaders).

Week 2

First Aid

After our 5 mile jog (just kidding but we will do a bit every week) we will be refreshing our memory on first aid, this is a vital skill we all should have as you never know when you may need to use it.

Week 3

Camp Prep and Visitor

Tonight we are in for a treat with a special environmental visitor (and no we are not being visited by a tree). Before this however we will be packing ready for the winter camp.

Camp

6-8/8/04

2nd Annual Winter Camp

It is getting bigger this year as we a joined by groups from up to 5 districts. Stan will again be there as our fire, but this year we will be going to Frying Pan Creek instead. Get ready to chill North Pole contingent, like was said in Wagga: "we do cold and wet, that is all we seem to do"

Week 4

International Night

Tonight we are going to enjoy a meal of another country as well as every patrol running 1 activity that is done in that country.

Week 5

Canoeing

With the Regions major Regatta coming up we will be learning some of the basics about canoeing to make sure we have a basic idea when on the water. We will also be making some repairs to the Mayfield kayak as part of our water activities badge.

Week 6

Joint Night

We are going to try a big joint night here with both the 2nd Newcastle and 3rd Mayfield Cubs where we will do a bit of water safety ready for the weekend as well as a lot of fun and games.

Camp

28-29/8/04

Regatta

This is a good chance for all scouts to experience being on the water, no matter what their skill level, it is run on a region basis by our activities team at Rathmines Scout Hall and is always a great success.

Week 7

Emergencies

This is our chance to practice those skills we all learned earlier in the term and we may even get a visit from someone special, I wonder who?

This is something even Camel has never done before so I am not sure fully what to expect but it should be very interesting.

Final Fitness test and Survival

Let us see how far we have progressed this term with our fitness program. Following this we are going to learn a few basics about survival in the outdoors.

Rock Climbing Night

This should be a new experience for many of the scouts and a chance to get a taste of what they can do in Venturers whilst in a more controlled environment.
