Past Term Programs

Week 2

(at 2nd Newcastle)

6/5/04

Rally Prep Part 1 (A New Team)

We are beginning our work on packing hiking packs tonight and we will also be doing a few 20min patrol tasks to get us operating as we should for rally.

A great night, not one egg was broken I am sure that we will be able to do very well at Rally if we can do all the bases like that.

Week 3

(at 2nd Newcastle)

13/5/04

Rally Prep Part 2 (The Leader Strikes Back)

This night we will be doing 1 more task activity and making sure we all know our mapping skills so we do not get lost in the bush, Camel and Snake will also be seeing what everyone has packed in their packs.

Well a lot of stuff was reorganised and thrown out tonight but it was probably one of the best first attempts I have ever seen by some Scouts.

Week 4

(at 2nd Newcastle)

20/5/04

Rally Prep Part 3 (Return of the PL)

This is our final chance to check the mapping and task solving skills we have learned, it is also a night where Camel and Snake can be brutal with the (now fully packed including food and water) hike packs.

Watch out Rally here come the Gothicks (Who on earth came up with that name?) we are truly ready good luck to Hayden and the team.

Camp

22-23/5/04

Regional Scout Rally

The Hunter and Coastal Regional Rally is held this time every year and is a chance to separate the boys from the men, operated like NSW State Rally it is set in the lovely Wallaroo State Forest, a great spot and is always a good, fun weekend.

Well this year was no exception everyone got dirty and everyone had a good time, even the karaoke did not destroy Camel's love of sound. Unfortunately our team missed the cut and will not be going to State, but they had a ball, well done team.

Week 5

(at 2nd Newcastle)

27/5/04

BiLo Challenge Night

Each Patrol is given 30mins in BiLo armed with $8 to try and get a 3 course balanced meal for all of them to cook back at the hall in half an hour, what will we see cooked this time?

Well there was no clear winner, 2 were very good, one patrol however needs to learn that there is more than the "snack group." Still they did manage to feed themselves and all meals were nice.

Week 6

(at 2nd Newcastle)

3/6/04

Cooking Night

Tonight we are doing some more traditional Scout cooking using trench fires. On the menu is "Saints Alfoil Stew" taught to Camel by his scout leader (and maybe to Saint by his before him, it is possible) followed by stewed apples with mars centers.

Well the fires were not as quick to get going as we would have liked, however they got going eventually and about 80% of the meals were cooked enough, well done all.

Week 7

(at 2nd Newcastle)

10/6/03

Visit to Water Police

This should be exciting and different, it will also fulfill our requirements for pioneer visit.

Unfortunately, due to terrorism risks, this did not eventuate but thanks to some quick thinking by leaders a good night was had.

Week 8

(at 2nd Newcastle)

17/6/04

Construction Night

Tonight we will be building all three items required for pioneer level, including an oldie Camel has not done for a while, the swinging flagpole (also used as a boom gate).

Well done all nothing fell apart and the flagpole was still erected, despite the rain, very brave and committed.

Week 9

(at 2nd Newcastle)

24/6/04

Surprise Visitor

Who will it be? Who will it be? - apologies to Mr Lloyd-Webber. We are in for an exciting visitor this month look out all.

Camp

2-6/7/04

State Environment Activity Camp

This is set to be a fun-packed weekend at Wagga, we will be doing some environmental service as well as a ton of great activities at this mini-jamboree style camp. Again we are camping with 2nd Belmont at this event and we intend to be remembered and have a heap of fun.

Well done to the State environment team, Scouts in the North Pole Contingent (us and our tag alongs) had a ball, even the so called chore of planting trees was fun (in fact most scouts thought it was the best bit). I was informed we planted 13,000 trees that weekend between the 300 campers so well done all!!!
