Week 1 |

Water ActivitiesWe shall use this night to finish up the bits of the water activities badge which everyone started last weekend on the canoe hike (see last term for details). We shall also say farewell to the cubs as this is the last time we will meet together as they are moving to Wednesday night and we shall continue our investiture run out to 5 weeks by investing Kym. |
We used the fact that this was our last night withe the cubs to
include them in the program and finished of the areas that the cubs would
find useful too.

|
Week 2 |

Hike ReviewWe will be going through what is required for the Rally so we will all be able to pack for next week so we can check we all pack light before the event itself, we shall also be doing our last session on water activities for the term. |
Well all that is left for that badge is a swim in many cases so we will have to plan that for the near future, we all seem to know what we should be doing so lets see if we can put it into practice for next week. |
|
Week 4 |
22/5/03 |
Pack InspectionLets make sure that all our packs are in order for the Rally this weekend this will also be the final chance to brush up on mapping so we don't get lost out there. Camel may even be nice enough to prepare a couple of practice bases so we know the way to behave on the weekend. |
We didn't get as much done as we maybe would have liked tonight, things may have run smoother if we all tried to work together a bit more. However the standard in the packs was very good, well done Scouts. We also invested a new scout tonight, welcome Paige. |
|
Camp |
24-25/5/03 |
Regional Rallywe spent much of last term and early this term going through hiking skills and this is the chance to put all that into practice good luck to all participants and may we have fairer weather than last year. I hope to see you all in Ancient Rome. |
We didn't get a spot in the top 15 but that doesn't matter because we will be going camping that weekend anyway and everyone had a good time and Tried their best well done to all you Scouts and a big B-R-A-V-O-O-O to the Regional Team for organising such a great Rally. |
|
Week 5 |
29/5/03 |
Knot and First aid reviewHow many Scouts remember what we did last term on these? Lets try and find out. |
We found that we do remember our knots a bit more than we thought. Grizzly helped us remember DRABC and our first aid. Good meeting tonight scouts. You have one week to give Kym a name though! |
|
Week 6 |
5/6/03 |
Construction NightWe shall be looking at the planning section of the badge tonight as well as making sure we know how to tie the lashings so we can put it all into practice at camp. |
Well not only did we do the planning section, we also built a scale model of a free standing flagpole (with any luck plans are up). |
|
Week 7 |
12/6/03 |
Campcraft and Camp prepTonight is the chance to pack for the divisional Camp and to make sure that we know all the important things about our camping skills like how to pitch and strike a tent. We will also be setting some can-crushing records (to break later). |
After tonight I think we should all know how to put up our marque so lets all show how well we can do it tomorrow at camp. |
|
Camp |
13-15/6/03 |
Divisional CampTo be held at Glenrock with 1st Mereweather, 1st New Lambton and ourselves. We will be doing some fun activities, bits of badgework, different forms of cooking as well as playing a great wide game. |
Well the Squiramolie bird hunt went well (for those who didn't eat their eggs) and everyone had a good smile on their face even during pack up. I would call the camp a great success. Most activities are on the resources page for those who want to give them a go. |
|
Week 8 |
19/6/03 |
Joint NightSince we all miss the cubs so much (oi' no laughing) we will be doing a joint night at Mayfield ten-pin bowling so we can all beat Akela again. |
event yet to be reviewed/held. |
|
Week 9 |
26/6/03 |
Camp ShoppingTonight we will all be going along with Camel to Wollies to do the shopping for this weekend. This will give us a valuable insight for when we want to go on patrol camps and plan our own menus. |
Everything was purchased successfully and we may have even learned something (shock horror) we also packed the trailer for camp. |
|
Camp |
27-29/6/03 |
Backwoods CampWe will be spending another weekend with 2nd Belmont and Kotara will be there too. This camp will take us back to the basics the way Scout Camps should be, cooking, living and building our homes as a Patrol. We shall open this to other Troops so we can swap ideas and knowledge with them. |
Well, (takes a deep breath) wasn't that a full on fun packed weekend! I must apologise to everyone for messing up and letting you all have fun. Everyone seemed to get on well, we all learned a lot about cooking and built 2 great towers. I think I will now go to sleep for 2 weeks though. |
|
Week 10 |
3/7/03 |
Their Service, Our HeritageThis meeting will see the completion of this badge with a visit from Jeff, a veteran to talk to us. We also have some pack up work to do from the camp. |
